Ubud Writers & Readers Festival 2012

Yayasan Mudra Swari Saraswati Foundation as independent, non-profit, non-government organization conducting major project known as The Ubud Writers & Readers Festival. The primary goal of the foundation is to give full expression to the creative needs of individuals and the community in order to better equip them to interact in our rapidly changing global society. Through its revenue from ticket sales to events and workshops, the Festival provides the Foundation with vital support to pursue its creative, educational and youth mission.
For the 9th Ubud Writers and Readers Festival will be held  on 3 - 7 October 2012. The 2012 theme pays homage to one of Indonesia’s greatest contemporary writers Pramoedya Ananta Toer and his epic novel Bumi Manusia/This Earth of Mankind. Building on Pramoedya’s legacy the festival program team has visited 25 cities across Indonesia to connect with established writers and uncover brilliant young minds to weave into the program.

Ngaben or the Cremation Ceremony is the ritual performed to send the dead through the transition to his next life.
