Nyepi Day

Nyepi day is a day of silence in Bali, a complete silence without any noise, traffic, fire or lights.It is a day of stillness in the physical and spiritual worlds.
Bali will remain silent for 24 hours,from 6am on Friday, 23 March 2012 until 6am on Saturday, 24 March 2012. Ngurah Rai International Airport will be closed for all flights during this 24hour period. Arrivals and departures during Nyepi, are thus not permitted. Offices and commercial establishments are closed whilst the island stays silent.
Melasti Ritual is performed at the 3 previous day at the beach to purify Arca, Pratima, and Pralingga (sacred objects) belongs to several temples.
Tawur Kesanga is performed to vanquish the negative elements and in order to make a harmonic relation between human being and God, human and human, and human and their environments. The ritual will be followed by procession of ogoh-ogoh, demonic statues made of bamboo and paper symbolizing negative elements or evil spirits. The carnivals are held all over Bali following sunset and it would be better driving motorcycle as almost main street will be closed during the carnivals. Nyepi Rituals is performed with the following conditions: Amati Geni: No fire/light, including no electricity, Amati Karya: No working, Amati Lelunganan: No travelling, Amati Lelanguan: Fasting and no revelry/self-entertainment. It's the day of self-introspection. During the day, there is usually Pecalangs (traditional Balinese security man) who controls and checks for street security.
Ngembak Agni is the day when Catur Berata Penyepian is over and Hindus societies usually visit to forgive each other and doing the Dharma Canthi.
